Safe Operation - Light barriers for protection of man and machine _ ReeR

Safety light curtains protect against unwanted entry of persons into rooms and/or machinery. A light curtain consists of at least two components, a transmitter and a receiver. It is possible to connect multiple light curtains together and use a master/slave arrangement (cascade).

Secured height

The light curtain emitter (transmitter) sends signals that are received by the light curtain receiver (receiver). If this signal is interrupted, the system shuts down, preventing a dangerous situation. The minimum height a light curtain can protect is 160 mm, the maximum protected height is 2260 mm.

Resolution

The beam spacing (resolution) is 14, 20, 30, 40, 50 or 90 mm. The resolution depends on the application for which the light curtain is used. With a low resolution it is possible to apply finger protection, for walk-in protection a larger beam distance is sufficient. ReeR Safety light curtains come in safety level type 2 and safety level type 4.

Safety light curtain EOS4 - Type 4

The ReeR EOS4 safety light curtain is a compact light curtain with safety levels SIL3, SILCL3, PL e and Cat. 4. The ReeR EOS4 X consists of models with integrated safety functions, including output monitoring, external switching contact monitoring (EDM) and automatic or manual start/reset. The EOS4 A has an automatic start/reset. Here, the external switching contacts (EDM) are monitored by a safety relay, Mosaic or safety PLC. By using a master/slave connection, more than two light curtains can be connected together.

The light screen has indicator LEDs that show status. On receivers with 14 mm resolution and H models, a blue LED indicates when the signal is too weak.

ReeR Safety's safety PLC Mosaic is ideally suited for use as an EDM (External Device Monitoring).

Safety light curtain EOS2 - Type 2

The ReeR EOS2 X consists of models with integrated safety functions, including output monitoring, external switch contact monitoring (EDM) and automatic or manual start/reset. The EOS2 A has an automatic start/reset. Here, the external switching contacts (EDM) are monitored by a safety relay, Mosiac or safety PLC.
