Boost your oxygen analyzer

Oxygen measurement for safety

Many oxygen analyzers in the process industry are there for safety. This is mainly about avoiding explosion hazards. We all know the triangle Fuel - Ignition Source - Oxygen. Those three together give rise to a possible explosion. So by ensuring that no oxygen or air enters the system, you remove the risk.

Until the end of the last century, paramagnetic oxygen analyzers were the most commonly used type. These analyzers have since become obsolete, often unsupported and in need of replacement. Meanwhile, technological development has not stood still. Today, TDL (Tunable Diode Laser) analyzers are the dominant technology. They are the answer to questions such as:

  • How to reduce downtime during an (unplanned) intervention?
  • What can I do to reduce costs?
  • How do I increase safety for my employees and the environment?

A retrofit skid is the solution

Replacing the old paramagnetic analyzers is not something you do in one, two, three. It requires a well-considered plan. ELSCOLAB helps you go a long way toward making this plan a reality. The GPro500 Retrofit Skid provides a easy upgrade of legacy systems. The response time of the analyzer is only 2s (T90) and is not subject to interference or drift. The skid is a turnkey solution that requires minimal modifications when integrating into existing sampling systems.

Due to the robustness of the analyzer and self-monitoring, verification or calibration is required only once a year. And there's more, verification or calibration can be done on-site which really reduces downtime to the absolute minimum and thus also saves costs. With the retrofit skid you detect 0.05%vol O2 without any problem.

The TDL analyzer sits in its own compact EXd enclosure. I.e., no nitrogen purge is required for an analyzer cabinet. So you don't need an additional monitoring system to ensure safety.

The technology

TDL analyzers are a non-contact technology. Thus, the detection system does not come into direct contact with the process gas. The detector is separated from the process flow by a so-called process-window and there are no moving parts. All this leads to much less maintenance and unplanned interventions.
