Turck has revamped its sets of inductive couplers, now offering additional features such as selective coupling in addition to improved performance. With a startup time of 600 ms, the NIC couplers enable shorter production cycles and thus higher productivity.
With IO-Link COM3, the NIC couplers support the maximum data transmission rate of 230.4 kbps. The robust couplers can withstand high shock loads and transmit 18 W of power via a 7 mm air interface. As "non-contact connectors," they are completely wear-free and permanently sealed thanks to protection class IP68. A flexible angle offset of up to 15° and parallel offset of up to 5 mm ensure great installation freedom. The diagnostic function detects the presence of the secondary part and metal objects in the air gap.
Bidirectional communication allows actuators to be activated and sensor signals to be collected. In addition to "dynamic coupling," where all primary and secondary components can be coupled, the couplers also support "selective coupling," where a primary component can only communicate with selected secondary components. For this, the device can be accessed directly via IO-Link. Typical applications of the NIC couplings are interchangeable tools, rotary tables or automated guided vehicles.
