With 80 GHz, accurately and effectively measure the level in an industrial fryer

An interesting experience in an industrial potato company. In an industrial fryer, at 186°C, fouling of oil residues and other substances can occur. Also, the dielectric property of the oil is subject to fluctuations. Precise measurement is essential: too much or too little oil causes undesirable temperature fluctuations, pernicious for product quality.

The measurement takes place in a small reference vessel next to the large frying tank. Each millimeter of level difference represents 100 liters of oil.

Both a guided radar sensor and a capacitive transducer did not work optimally.

Finally, the VEGAPULS 64 was installed. Its extreme sensitivity and focusing ensured millimeter-accurate measurements over the entire range.

This led not only to better product quality, but also to a more environmentally friendly production process.
